Machine Gun Kelly known as MGK is one of the most exciting rappers around right now. Nicknamed by his friends due to his fast paced rapping style, he will play for the very first time at Roxy Club Prague on the November 22nd. Tickets available via GoOut.cz or Ticketpro from Friday, September 11th at 10 AM for 590 CZK each.
Born as Richard Colson Baker, he appeared on scene quietly. But it was a trip to New York’s famed Apollo Theater in 2009 that really gave him his start. He became the first caucasian rapper in history to win the Apollo’s talent show. Though Machine Gun Kelly was born in Houston, the main theme of his work is Cleveland, where he moved with his dad when he was 14. Later on, viral hit “Chip Off The Block” earned him a contract with Bad Boy label and collaboration with P. Diddy. In 2011, his tracks “Invincible” and “Wild Boy” featuring Atlanta rapper Waka Flocka Flame, opened the door to more exposure for MGK as “Invincible” was selected to score a spot for HTC’s television commercial and MTV chose MGK to win it’s Hottest Breakthrough MC Award of 2011. A year later, Kelly released his first official album entitled “Lace Up” to more success and praise. Album debuted at number four on Billboard’s 200 chart.
A long-awaited second studio album “General Admission” should be released in October this year and Czech fans can look forward to both older and brand-new stuff. The ongoing American tour confirms that Kelly’s live performances are extraordinary and that he belongs among the best contemporary rap artists.
