She is eighteen and she quit school to concentrate on her blossoming music career. An Irish native is getting ready to go on her first solo tour with a stop in Prague. She is bringing her debut record to the show in Chapeau Rouge on the October 10th. Tickets for 330 CZK are available through GoOut.cz and Ticketpro.cz.

Bridie Monds-Watson aka SOAK began writing music at the age of thirteen. She would record songs in her room and express everything she didn’t want to say out loud. “I am always hiding behind the words,” SOAK describes the process of writing songs. Pseudonym SOAK happened by accident as a mixture of words “soul” and “folk”. Even though it doesn’t really fit, it stuck with her. “I have no idea what genre it belongs in,” she says. “It’s weird, generally, a bit of alternative, a bit folk.” Her songs have youth and innocence, yet musically she’s wise beyond her years.

SOAK has lately been extremely busy. She supported George Ezra, Tegan & Sara (at the Prague show as well) and is set to perform in many big name festivals. Lauren Mayberry from CHVRCHES is a big fan of SOAK. Her debut album “Before We Forgot How To Dream” is coming out June 1st.
