British post-punk band SAVAGES is coming to Prague’s Rock Café on February 28th! This information was released earlier today by the promoter of the event, Fource Entertainment. The tickets are available through Ticketpro network from December 3rd.

Savages formed in late 2011 when French singer Jehnny Beth and British guitarist Gemma Thompson hooked up with bassist Ayse Hassan and drummer Fay Milton. “It wasn’t ever supposed to be an all-girl band from the start,” the drummer says. “That wasn’t really the plan. Me and Ayse have something in common I think in the way we feel music in a really sort of primal way,” Ms. Milton says. “We don’t necessarily seek to analyze. We just play what really comes to us naturally.”

Taking its name from Lord of the Flies novel by William Golding. The quartet got to work on what would become its forceful debut album, “Silence Yourself,” which is clearly aligned with three-decade-old post-punk. The Observer has said of Savages: “They’re not going to be rolling around in mud like the Slits. But it’s the closest thing to art that “post-punk” has offered in a while.”

Savages performed for example at the Coachella international festival and supported Portishead during their world tour: that’s how they’ve seen Czech Republic for the first time!

Opening for wild ladies of Savages will be the Australian rock duo A Dead Forest Index. Born in Melbourne, brothers Sam and Adam Sherry released the acclaimed Antique EP under the prestigious Denovali Records label.

Savages headlining show is taking place on February 26th, 2014 at Prague’s Rock Café! You can get the tickets ahead of time through Ticketpro network for 395.- CZK + fees.
