Martin, a native Montrealer, has been recording music as Coeur de Pirate since 2008 when she was 18 years old. Her accolades range from several Juno nominations to winning a handful of Felix awards (the Quebecois music awards); from going gold on her albums Blonde and Roses, to being longlisted for the Polaris prize. To this day, she released four albums on which she also collaborate with producer Bjorn Yttling from Peter Bjorn and John. Her last record form 2018 En cas de tempête, ce jardin sera fermé is inspired by her coming out after the wake of the homophobic attack on Pulse nightclub in Orlando and for the singer herself the record expressing how opening yourself up feel triumphant to her.
