Bassnectar (US)

American freeform electronic music and dubstep artist, DJ and producer, Bassnectar is coming to Prague this autumn for the first time ever. The show is a part of the new VaVa Voom Tour 2012. Bassnectar will perform at Roxy on September 6.

Bassnectar is a stage name of a Californian Lorin Ashton (34). Originally from San Jose, he is well known for his live performances containing wild visuals matched with his electronic creations.

Bassnectar is no music newbie: during his over a decade long career, he has published already 9 studio albums (VaVa Voom being the latest), 4 EPs and many, many singles. He often performs with the likes of Lupe Fiasco, Gogol Bordello, DJ Z-trip, Prefuse 73, Ellie Goulding and even Nelly Furtado. All his shows from last tour in 2011 have been sold out. Bassnectar is also well known for his continuing community engagement: he is an avid supporter of freedom of speech, free internet, public knowledge and education and he often donates money from his concerts to charities.

“It’s a great pleasure to bring here such an icon of this genre. Bassnectar is a very active person who loves music and likes to engage fans and everyone in music industry – and also wants to make these people think, rather than just blindly accept. He will be in Prague for the first time, so it’s going to be a massive blast!” says one of the promoters.
